Shopify Permissions
What each Shopify permission Zigpoll asks for is used for, and why you may be asked to approve a new one
When you install Zigpoll from the Shopify App Store, Shopify shows the list of permissions (called access scopes) the app is asking for. Every one of them maps to a feature in Zigpoll; nothing is requested speculatively.
Read and write customers
Link responses to the customer who answered, write survey answers to customer metafields and tags, and target surveys by customer segment
Read and write orders (including all past orders)
Attach post-purchase responses to the order, target by what was bought, and write answers back to the order
Read fulfillments
Trigger email and SMS surveys on fulfillment and delivery events
Read and write discounts
Generate the discount codes shown on Promo Code questions
Write store credit
Issue store credit as a survey reward
Read products
Show product names and images in surveys and targeting rules
Read and write script tags
Install the survey widget on Shopify 1.0 themes that don't support app embeds
Read locations
Show the store location's name (for example Toronto Store) on responses collected through Shopify POS, instead of a numeric id
Why am I being asked to approve a new permission?
When Zigpoll adds a feature that needs a permission you haven't granted yet, Shopify asks you to approve it the next time the app reconnects to your store — for example when you open Zigpoll from your Shopify admin after a period away, or when a token is renewed. You'll see the standard Shopify approval screen listing the new permission alongside the ones you already granted.
Read locations was added in August 2026 for Shopify POS surveys. Until you approve it, everything else keeps working exactly as before; POS responses simply record the location id without its name. There is nothing to reinstall and no survey data is affected.
If you would rather not grant a permission, you can decline the screen; Zigpoll continues to run with the permissions you previously approved, and only the feature that depends on the new one is unavailable.
