# Activating Zigpoll on Shopify Checkout Extensions

All Shopify stores now use [Checkout Extensibility](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/checkout-settings/checkout-extensibility) for their Thank You and Order Status pages. For Zigpoll surveys to appear on these pages (or on customer account pages), you need to add the **Zigpoll app block** in your Shopify checkout editor.

To enable the block on your store, follow the steps below:

* Install the Zigpoll App via the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/zigpoll)
* Open your checkout editor: from your **Shopify Dashboard**, click Settings → Checkout → Customize
* Select **Thank You** from the page dropdown at the top of the editor
* Click **Add App Block**
* Select **Zigpoll**. Drag it to the position where you want the survey to appear
* Press Save. Repeat this process with the **Order Status** page

{% hint style="info" %}
When you create your first post-purchase survey, the Zigpoll dashboard will prompt you with an **Open checkout editor** button that takes you directly to this screen in your Shopify admin.
{% endhint %}

Once you have made these changes you are ready to go! You can still manage all of your surveys directly from the Zigpoll dashboard.

### In-Checkout Surveys (Checkout Survey block)

In addition to the Thank You and Order Status pages, Zigpoll offers a **Checkout Survey** block that renders *during* checkout itself. To add it, open the checkout editor, select the **Checkout** page from the dropdown, and add the **Checkout Survey** app block.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Shopify requires a **Shopify Plus** plan to add third-party app blocks to the checkout page. The Thank You and Order Status blocks above are available on all Shopify plans.
{% endhint %}

**Block Checkout (require the survey before continuing).** The Checkout Survey block can require buyers to complete the survey before they can proceed with checkout. This is a **double opt-in**: you must enable **Block Checkout** in *both* places for it to take effect —

1. In the checkout editor, on the Checkout Survey block's settings, enable **Block Checkout**.
2. In the Zigpoll dashboard, on the survey's Delivery settings, enable **Block Checkout**.

When the editor-side setting is on, checkout is held closed while the survey loads (fail-closed), so buyers can't slip past during the brief loading window. If checkout appears stuck for buyers, check that both toggles are set the way you intend.

### Customer Account Surveys

Zigpoll also ships a **Customer Account Survey** block for the new customer accounts experience (profile and order pages). To add it: in your Shopify admin, go to **Settings → Customer accounts → Customize**, then add the **Zigpoll** app block to the profile or order index page and press Save.

If you have any feedback or questions about our **Checkout Extension**, or if you have any questions about Zigpoll in general, don't hesitate to [get in touch](https://www.zigpoll.com/contact).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.zigpoll.com/installation/activating-zigpoll-on-shopify-checkout-extensions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
